INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION AND SPECIAL EVENT TO
COMMEMORATE THE COMPLETION OF 20 YEARS OF GREEN PROJECT – GCG
67th Independence Day was celebrated with great patriotic ferver by all students and staff. The tricolor way hoisted by the Chairman Mr. Subhash Jain and Director Principal, Dr. Mala Kapoor along with an impressive performance of the school band. The highlighted event of the day was the completion of 20 years of school’s prestigious green project GCG i.e. Green Clean Globe through which the Silverliners are zealously trying to spread the green wave all around.
On 15th Aug 1993, 20 years back, this initiative was taken by Director Principal, Dr. Mala Kapoor, to spread awareness for conserving environment amongst the students. The motto of the project was ‘Plant today to live tommorow’. In the first year of this project, saplings were presented to every student on his birthday and they were motivated to take care of those plants. Trees were planted on the main roads of Ghaziabad, which are giving nice shade and shelter even today.
Impressed by the enthusiasm and initiative of Silverliners, ‘Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation’ handed over a barren green belt for its maintenance and beautification which had been developed into a beautiful park, named Pushp Kunj. Many other such initiatives followed.
Every year, all students celebrate green week during which Art competitions are organized, plantations are done and programmes are presented to make the children understand the importance of honouring Mother Nature and conserve the environment.
The Interact Club of the school in association with prestigious ‘Rotary Ghaziabad Central’, takes active part in the green initiative of planting saplings and carrying out cleanliness drives at different places.
We believe that these initiatives should be followed everyday and we all should try to save ‘Wood, Water, Paper and Power. To save our environment we have to learn to ‘Reduce, Reuse & Recycle’.
To celebrate this occasion students from all three branches presented skits, dance drama and songs to effectively convey the message of ‘Go Green’ and redeemed our green pledge:
“We pledge to plant a tree,
A tiny seed we’ll sow;
We’ll care for it with our loving hands,
And watch our destiny grow.”
The students of NGO Shaurya, the bravehearts presented a mesmerizing dance performance on this occasion.
Senior children presented energetic and enthralling dance drama which exuded their patriotism and love for country. The program ended with the appreciative and inspiring words of Chairman Sir & Director Principal Ma’am. All the students and teachers pledged to fulfill their duty towards the nation and the environment.
